What happened on October 6, 2007 and why is 1987 significant?

In 1987 humanity started to demand more than our earth could provide of new resources, but on October 6, 2007 also today humanity uses about 30% more in one year than nature can reproduce in that same year. Which is called overshoot, that means it takes more than 1 year and 3 months to reproduce on what is being consumed by humanity in one year.

Wow! Great work finding the graph! I'd love to have you practice presenting what the graph means to others in the class to reinforce it. Well done!
